DIY foam hand soap

I got the direction for diy foam soap at this site http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/l.  This is an awesome site for lots of things.
What you need:  empty hand foam soap bottle, dish soap( I used scented dial soap), and water.

What to do: Put 1Tbls-2Tbls of soap into bottle, next add hot water.  Leave some room at the top.  Now shake.  Last give it a few pumps to get the foam going and  wash your hands!
This is my bottle of soap.  I made it about a month ago.  I think it works great.

Let's clean the mircowave(the easy way)

Does your microwave ever get really dirty and have the hard to get off stuff?  Well sometimes mine does.  Like today food exploded in there and by the time I got back to clean it, the food was good and stuck!  So I put this trick to work:-)

I got this great idea from this site http://www.craftylittlegnome.com.  Maybe I am the last to hear of this great trick.

What you need:  a bowl and vinegar.  Oh yeah, a dirty microwave-even with the hard stuck on stuff!

What to do:  I pour a little vinegar into my bowl and microwave about 2 min(if its real dirty you may want a few extra Min's), then take out the bowl, next I take a wet paper towel while the vinegar is cooling off and start wiping out the microwave.  It comes off so easy!  Then I go back and dip the paper towel in the vinegar (or use a rag )and finish wiping down the microwave.  Wow, now it is so clean and it was so easy.  I didn't have to scrub and fight to get the gunk out!!!  Easy cleaning makes me happy, lol.

Ice cube painting great activity for toddlers and preschoolers

I say it over and over I love when I find things both my boys can do together.  Ice cube painting is one.
This idea came from http://www.kidspot.com.au.

What you need:

Ice cubes, water, food coloring-freeze over night.  Then you will need thick paper(we used poster board) and maybe some wipes or paper towel?

Ice cube painting

What to do:

Prepare and freeze ice cubes over night.  The next day when ready get out ice cubes and put into bowl.  Get paper ready(we did this activity outside).  You may want to grab something to wipe up some of the meted ice.  I had paper towels handy.  This is a little messy but the boys came clean after a bath and their clothes came clean after spraying stain remover on them and washing.
What I did for my 11 mo old was cut up an old blanket and taped it to his highchair.  He can't resist eating paper so this was the way to go for him.  He didn't really make a picture more just playing with the ice cubes anyways.  But both of them (3yrs old and 11mo old) enjoyed this.

Finger Paint Tree

I have seen pictures of finger paint trees using what looked like finger prints for the leaves of the tree and a hand as the trunk.  I didn't  go to a site to read how to.  I just went of the image's I had seen.

What you need: finger paints or just washable paints, and paper.

What to do:  Let your child put their hand down in the paint for the trunk,  help them if they are small like mine, then place hand on paper.  Next let them put their finger in paint to make finger print (or dots) leaves.  Last let dry.

What I did was frame the 2 we made.  I kept one and gifted one to my mother in law for her bday.  We both love them.

colored ice cubes in the tub

When I saw this idea I loved it.  Put food coloring & water in ice cube tray and freeze.  How simple is that.  Having  a 3yr and an 11 mo old that I bath at the same time it is hard to add fun stuff for both of them.  But with this they both can have fun in the tub.
I got this idea from http://www.mommysavers.com.
Both boys loved trying to catch and keep a hold of the ice cubes.  I had a big bottle of yellow food coloring I have been wanting to use up, so I only used one color but you could do all different colors...  I only wished I had made 2 trays so after the first ones melted I could have added the second tray.  I know I will be doing this again for the boys.
My Aiden, of course he had to taste the ice cube!

They loved these ice cubes and we have found different ways to have fun with them.

Magic Chick's that lay Magic Jelly Beans(these are planted and grow a magic lollipop)

I just love Jill's website http://www.meetthedubiens.com  she has great ideas!  She shared her magic chicks that lay magic jelly beans today. I started right away making some for the boys. I even got my husband to help me. I know big brother will love this. This goes with her magic jelly bean lollipops she did last year.  I look forward to trying her Ester tradition out this year.  What  you do is check the magic chick everyday to see if they have laid magic jelly beans.  On the night before Easter the kids will find the magic jelly beans and plant them.  Easter morning they will find a lollipops has grown from the beans!

What you need for the chicks:  plastic eggs, google eyes, scissors, orange construction paper, glue, egg carton or other container of your chose, paper or your choosing to decorate egg carton.

 This is what we used.

What to do:

Take the eggs and apply glue and stick the eyes on, cut little paper noses and glue them on.  We decorated our egg carton with a piece of paper and sharpies.  Last put the chick in the carton.

Simple but so cute.  Excited to show and share the story with big brother in the morning.

"Paper box"

I haven't seen this done before, not to say someone some where hasn't had the same idea before.  My son during our scissor skills easter cross craft had decided to take the left over cut up paper and bulldoze it with his truck we got that morning at the dollar tree.
This is big brother that day we did the craft playing with his paper.  Well it went from this to a "paper box" created by my son.  He decided that he wanted to make a box of cut up paper to play in, similar to his rock box  we made last year.

What you need:  a Rubbermaid, cut up paper, and construction truck or 2!

What to do:  put cut up paper in box and then start playing!

My son has played with this everyday this week !  I love it because it is quieter than his rock box and its not as scary thinking of his younger brother eating a dropped piece of paper as it is a dropped rock.

I am a proud mommy of his creativity in creating his own play box!

Bunny Straws

I love this idea from bytesizedpieces.wordpress.com of bunny straws!  The straws on that site look great!  After reading it and seeing all what they did, I decided to simplify mine.

What you need:  The bunny peeps template from above site, scissors, and hole punch.  Oh, yeah a straw!

What to do:  Cut out the bunnies- I only used the large ones.  Then take your hole punch and punch out a hole for the straw.  Now you are done!
To me it kinda looks like the bunny is drinking through the straw:-)  We loved our mustache straws so much, I just couldn't pass this up.  I plan on using them for our Easter gathering this year.

Apple cars

Up Date: I found the referencing site http://www.bentonbetterlunches.com.  They used  something different to hold on the grapes, but I like the peanut butter because you can eat it.

I saw this picture of apple cars on pinterest, I hate to say I can't find it in on my pin board.  If I come across it again I will come back and share the site.  I am bad about seeing a picture and just trying to do it myself without reading how someone else did it.  Usually I have it pinned though and I can link back to the site.

What you need:Apple cut up- peel or no peel up to you, peanut butter, and cut up grapes.  (yes we do things with sweets and I have added m&m's before)
What to do:  Take the cut up apple and grapes put peanut butter in between and place in the four corners of the apple.  Now you have a car.  All  that is left is to enjoy your snack. My oldest and I ate these today!  The little guy ate cut up and skinned grapes:-)

I have said it before I have been using my cell's camera and uploading b/c its quick.  Don't tell my husband I haven't been using my nice camera he got me for Christmas, sshhh, hehe.  So the quality of the pic's are not the best.  I am not a professional anyways so maybe it doesn't matter what camera I use.  However, I think you can get the idea from them on how they should look.

Bunny Envelopes-stuffed with Easter treats

I was looking at Martha Stewart's website and came across this Bunny envelopes craft, how cute!  I decide this would be a great idea to use for my son's Easter party @ his preschool.  We could give these out to his classmates.
Bunny Envelops-stuffed with Easter treats

What you need: envelopes(I used 2 sizes that I had-the small ones seemed to be perfect), I used the bunny ears template from the above link, glue or glue stick, black markers(I used sharpies), scissors, and pink paper(I used construction paper).

What I did: trace the bunny ears template on the envelopes(I licked them sealed and turned on its side then traced), cut out the ears with scissors, then draw on eyes with sharpie, then cut out nose with construction paper and glue on, then draw mouth, last cut out the pink of the ear and glue it on the envelop.

Here are my first few I made, I am stuffing them with a little Easter grass, fruit snacks, and raisins.

Button & Puff Ball Egg for Easter

We tried the jelly bean egg craft but it was so heavy after drying I could not hang them up.  It was fun though and would do it again.  When I saw this pic of a  button egg craft on pinterest  I thought lets try this one.  I had been racking my brain, what else could we  put on the egg template we got from http://www.coloring.ws/.  Buttons sounded good.

What you need: The Egg Template(link above), Buttons-we added puff balls too, and Glue.

What to do:  Cut the template out if you wish, then apply glue and stick on your buttons, puff balls...(you can add anything here you like)

Big brother adding his glue.  He loved that he got to squeeze glue all over the egg.
He putt all his buttons and puff balls o his egg and asked for more:-)  After applying more he was finished!

Easter Tree from Dollar Tree

I bought this Tree and Easter eggs years ago to put out during Easter. Big brother loves to decorate it.  We go to the dollar tree often and they still sell them.  We got another one to put up for little brother so they can both decorate one next year.  What a great and simple Easter activity for kids.

Big brother with his Easter Tree( the mustache is from us mustache "bombing" object's in the house that morning)
He loves that tree:-)  We started using the tree for other holidays and just adding paper tags to decorate.

Jelly Bean Egg Craft

I saw a jelly bean egg craft and wanted to try it.   The craft looked so cute and colorful.  Sorry the above picture is not very good.  I take a lot of photos on my cell bc its quick and easy to upload.  Ok back to the craft.   The jelly bean Easter egg is easy and fun.

What you need: egg template, glue(after doing the craft I might have tried a stronger glue or even hot glue gun), jelly beans-would suggest using very small ones.

What to do:  Print out egg template, you can cut it out or leave it.  We left ours.  I just used a sharpie to draw through the print on the bottom of the template and turned the top print into EASTER and NAME box.  I left the date.
Apply glue to egg and then add jelly beans anyway you want them.
